The hearing of the case against the governor's removal of Pervez Elahi for not taking the vote of confidence will be held today

The lawsuit challenging the Governor's announcement of the dismissal of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi for failing to receive a vote of confidence on Wednesday will be heard by a five-member panel of the Lahore High Court.

The case opposing the notification to remove the Chief Minister of Punjab from office and dissolve the cabinet will be heard today by a 5-member Lahore High Court bench led by Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh.

Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi filed the plea; the other judges on the panel are Justices Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir, Asim Hafeez, and Chaudhry Iqbal.

The principal and chief secretaries added the governor as a party to the petition, the attorney general and advocate general received notices from the court requesting their assistance, and on December 23, the court gave the governor an assurance that the assembly would not be dissolved on December 19 and 22. The notice was put on hold.

The court had said in its ruling that the governor's notification would stay postponed until January 11 and that Pervaiz Elahi would not be prevented from seeking the vote of confidence during that period.

The Governor's attorney stated during the hearing on December 23 that he was prepared to revoke the notification if Pervaiz Elahi promised to cast the vote of confidence.
